Personal Statement

Dr. Alma Spaniardi is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at ÈÕ±¾avÉ«ÇéƬ Medical College and an Assistant Attending Psychiatrist at New York-Presbyterian Hospital. She is the Chief of the Outpatient Program in the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at NYP-Cornell. In this position she works to increase access to child mental health services through developing innovative and integrated models of care and training with the department of pediatrics. Dr. Spaniardi specializes in the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric disorders in children, adolescents and adults in her faculty practice. She offers both in-person and virtual appointments, as well as weekend and extended hours to better accommodate the schedules of her patients.

Biographical Info

Dr. Spaniardi received her medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine and completed a medical internship at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. She was a Phipps Resident in general psychiatry at Johns Hopkins Hospital and trained in child and adolescent psychiatry at the New York-Presbyterian Hospital’s combined program of Columbia and Cornell Universities. She has extensive experience working in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatry, including as an attending psychiatrist on the adolescent inpatient unit at NYP-Cornell Westchester and as an outpatient psychiatrist with the New York University Child Study Center. She enjoys teaching and supervising medical students, residents and fellows. She is an Editorial Board Member for the American College of Psychiatrist’s Resident’s In-Training Examination (PRITE). Dr. Spaniardi regularly speaks at both national and international conferences and has been a contributor to several books on child psychiatry, including editing the upcoming Springer Science title: Teens, Screens and Social Connection: An Evidence Based Guide to Key Problems and Solutions.

Dr. Spaniardi is board certified in adult, child and adolescent psychiatry. She is available for diagnostic consultations, initial evaluations, medication management and psychotherapy to patients of all ages in her outpatient private practice. She sees patients in both the Westchester and Manhattan campuses. Virtual appointments and some late hours are available.
